Provenance

This pair is understood to have come from a private estate collection of late 20th-century glass and decorative homewares.

Description

This is an imposing and exceptionally stylish pair of vintage candlesticks dating from the 1980s, designed with a distinct nod to the geometric principles of the 1920s Art Deco movement. Standing at an impressive 31 cm tall, each piece is molded from exceptionally heavy, high-quality clear glass that offers a reassuring weight and wonderful optical clarity.

The design features a wide, tiered square plinth base that tapers upward into a sleek, four-sided column. The pillar gently flares outward at the neck to meet a wide glass drip pan, which supports a sharply faceted, square-cut candle nozzle. This sculptural form ensures excellent stability while showcasing the post-modern, minimalist aesthetic that defined high-end 1980s interiors. Highly versatile and beautifully proportioned, these candlesticks carry immense commercial appeal, serving as functional holders for standard taper candles or acting purely as striking architectural glass ornaments.

Condition

The item is in very good vintage condition, with wear consistent with its age and previous use.

Condition points include:

  • The clear glass remains bright and free from clouding or discoloration.

  • No significant chips, cracks, or deep scratches across the main bodies, columns, or nozzles.

  • Very minor, negligible surface marks or tiny flea bites on the underside of the bases, entirely consistent with sitting on a polished surface.

  • The candle sockets are clean and ready for immediate everyday use.

These points form part of the item’s age and character unless otherwise stated.

Please study all photographs, as they form an important part of the condition report. Further photographs or a video can be supplied on request.
