Vintage Art Deco Frosted Pressed Glass Globe Light Shade / 1930s European Art Glass / 4" Neck
DESCRIPTION A striking 1930s Art Deco heavy pressed glass ceiling light shade. Crafted with thick-walled, frosted textured glass, this large globe-style shade features bold vertical ribbed columns framed by a row of raised nodule details around the lower waist. When illuminated, the textured surface diffuses light into a soft, ambient glow. Designed with a 4-inch (~100mm) fitter neck and a shallow ~5mm lip, this high-quality piece is ideal for mounting with a 3-screw shade gallery suspended from a load-bearing chain. Please note this listing is for the glass shade only; no ceiling rose, chain, or electrical fittings are included.
PROVENANCE Sourced from a private collection of mid-20th-century lighting and glasswork.
STORY Discovered during an estate clearance, this piece immediately stood out for its impressive scale and tactile design. While many glass globes from the era feature plain or lightly etched surfaces, the heavy ribbed architecture and textured "frosted ice" finish on this piece showcase the classic European art glass craftsmanship of the 1930s to 1940s. Its solid, heavy build and tactile nodules make it a particularly striking architectural statement for period restorations or vintage-inspired interiors.
CONDITION REPORT Overall good vintage condition consistent with age and use. The frosted surface shows light, natural surface wear with no major chips or structural cracks. The top 4-inch rim is intact and smooth, ready to take a standard shade gallery.
