DESCRIPTION

A rare complete set of six antique French enamel kitchen storage canisters (boîtes à épices), bearing the clear maker’s mark for Émaillerie Parisienne G.O. (Marque Déposée) on the undersides. Crafted in crisp white enamel with vibrant cobalt blue rolled rims and fine double lining, each canister features elegant dark Gothic script typography detailing essential French pantry staples: Farine (Flour), Café (Coffee), Vermicelle (Vermicelli), Chicorée (Chicory), Tapioca, and Poivre (Pepper). Each vessel comes complete with its matching unattached lid featuring a central knob and blue pinstripe detailing. A highly desirable, authentic Paris-made set that brings classic French country charm to kitchen dressers, open shelving, or countertops.

Private UK Collection; acquired from a French antiques dealer at Ardingly Antiques Fair.

STORY

Émaillerie Parisienne was one of France's premier 20th-century enamelware manufactories, famous for its high-grade domestic and architectural enameling. Blue and white kitchen sets with Gothic script lettering are amongst the most iconic items of classic French provincial homeware. Finding a complete six-piece graduated set with all original matching lids and crisp maker's stamps intact is exceptionally rare.

CONDITION REPORT

Good antique condition with authentic age-related character. The white enamel remains bright with crisp, fully legible Gothic script. Maker's mark clearly visible on the bases. As expected with genuine antique enamelware, there are small areas of enamel loss, rim chipping, and minor surface oxidation around the lid edges and knobs, enhancing their authentic history and charm.
