Description:
A striking and beautifully crafted 1950s walnut dressing table by esteemed British designer Alfred Cox, a name synonymous with quality post-war furniture and known for his close association with Heal's of London. This piece exemplifies mid-century elegance with its sleek lines, exquisite walnut veneers, and iconic splayed legs.
The design is both refined and practical: featuring a large central drawer, four smaller side drawers, and a concealed full-width bottom drawer—ideal for discreet storage. Each drawer is finished with Cox’s signature sculpted handles, while the large tilting mirror, crowned with a gentle curved top, adds a graceful focal point to the piece.
Restored to an excellent standard, this dressing table retains its original charm while offering everyday functionality. Minor polished-in marks are visible under close inspection, consistent with its vintage age, but overall, the condition is exceptional.
Whether styled in a bedroom or used as a statement vanity in a dressing space, this piece brings timeless sophistication and a true sense of mid-century British design heritage.

Provenance:
This dressing table comes with a wonderful provenance. It was acquired from an elderly couple in Brighton who purchased the full Alfred Cox suite—including the wardrobe and chest—from Heal’s on Tottenham Court Road in London during the early 1960s. It was their first home together, and they took great pride in selecting quality British furniture that would last a lifetime. The dressing table remained in their Brighton home ever since, lovingly maintained and cherished for over six decades.
Condition:
Excellent restored condition. Structurally sound with drawers running smoothly. Light surface marks consistent with age, all polished in and professionally finished.
