Ercol Windsor High Back Grandfather Armchair Model 478 (1963)

Stunning original 1963 Ercol Windsor High Back Grandfather Armchair Model 478, carefully restored.  These timeless pieces have been sympathetically renovated while retaining their authentic Ercol charm, making them both a collector’s item and a practical statement chair for the modern home..

Features & Renovation Details

  • Model: Armchair Model 478

  • Year: 1963

  • Finish: lightly cleaned and refinished with three coats of protective Osmo wax oil.

  • Webbing: Brand new Pirelli webbing with dowel for long-lasting support

  • Cushions: Ercol cushions (approx. 1 year old, in very good condition) included – however, you may wish to have new ones made to suit your home perfectly.

  • Upholstery: Re-covered in a striking Mustard yellow ochre with fleur de lys in grey print on the fabric.

    • foam seat cushion for comfort

    • Loose back cushions in a mix of mustard yellow ochre fabric for contrast.

  • Condition: Solid, sturdy, with minor age-related wear consistent with its vintage status (see pictures)

Vintage Ercol Windsor High Back Grandfather Armchair Model 478 were sourced from a friend in the North of England, who discovered the chairs in a friend's garden room - now carefully, gently restored and given a new lease of life.
