A beautifully restored Regency antique painted linen press, circa early 19th century, discovered in a Scottish country house barn and brought to Sussex, where it has been thoughtfully transformed into a truly one-of-a-kind statement piece. This exceptional linen press blends historic charm with contemporary artistic flair, making it an effortlessly versatile addition to both modern interiors and character-filled period homes.


Features & Craftsmanship
Crafted from solid timber and maintained in excellent condition, this linen press features a practical and elegant layout:
Four sliding internal drawers in the upper cupboard, ideal for storing folded linens, delicate textiles, or knitwear.
Original hardware details, including internal door sliding brass bolts (top and bottom of the left upper door) and a key to lock the right-hand door.
Four deep, spacious lower drawers, offering generous, multi-functional storage.
A detachable cornice and upper cabinet, ensuring straightforward transport and easy installation through narrow doorways or staircases.
Artistically refinished by hand, the exterior features rich, layered painted tones that highlight its architectural lines and historical texture.

Condition Report

This piece is in excellent structural condition, having been expertly restored and artistically hand-painted using a layered palette of off-white, French linen, and warm grey. The finish has been hand-distressed and sealed with a dark wax, creating rich depth, subtle patina, and lasting protection while preserving the original antique hardware.

As an authentic early 19th-century piece, it exhibits minor surface marks, light age-related wear, and natural timber character consistent with its age, provenance, and former life in a Scottish country house. The cupboard doors align and close smoothly, the locking mechanism and internal brass sliding bolts function as intended, and all internal trays and lower drawers open and slide freely.
