Ercol Tall Back Easy Chair / Lounge Chair (c. 1956–1990s) Model 415
Ercol Model 415 Tall Back Easy Chair (c. 1956–1990s)

The Ercol Model 415, commonly known as the Tall Back Easy Chair, is a refined example of British mid-century comfort and craftsmanship. Introduced in the late 1950s as part of the Windsor range, it was designed by Lucian Ercolani to offer generous seating, supportive posture, and a light, elegant frame.
Handcrafted from solid beech and elm, the chair features a tall, steam-bent spindle backrest that provides excellent lumbar and shoulder support. Its outward-swept arms, gently tapered legs, and wide, webbed seat base create a harmonious blend of strength and grace. Originally supplied with deep feather- or foam-filled cushions, the Tall Back Easy Chair quickly became a favourite for reading nooks, lounges, and conservatories.
Today, vintage examples are highly sought after for their enduring comfort and timeless silhouette. Many have been sympathetically restored and reupholstered, making them equally at home in a mid-century interior or a modern living space.
