Ercol All Purpose Windsor Chairs Model 391
Ercol Hoop Back Dining Chairs (Model 391) – c. 1960s–1970s
The Ercol Model 391 Hoop Back Chair is one of the most classic and versatile designs in the mid-century Windsor collection by Lucian Ercolani. Introduced in the 1960s and produced into the 1970s, these chairs reflect the simplicity, strength, and craftsmanship that define British modern design.
The chair features a solid elm saddle seat with five slender stick spindles and a gently arched hoop top rail, all set on turned beech legs with an H-stretcher base for added durability. The compact shape makes it ideal for dining rooms, kitchen settings, and smaller interiors, where function and style are equally important.
These chairs were often paired with drop-leaf tables or plank-top utility tables from the same Windsor range. Their minimalist profile and warm wood tones make them a perfect fit for Scandinavian-style interiors or rustic-modern spaces.
