We acquired this exquisite Guy Rogers Suite — a sofa and two armchairs. This listing is for the sofa only, but you can buy it as a set on our other listing -https://vintagemidcentury.co.uk/products/guy-rogers-virginia
from the iconic ‘Virginia’ range — from a private residence in North Yorkshire, where it had been a statement fixture in a sunken lounge since the early 1970s. The home, designed by a Bauhaus-inspired architect, was a testament to clean lines, natural materials, and open-plan living values that echoed in the furniture itself.
The previous owners were lifelong fans of British modernist design and had originally purchased the suite directly from a Guy Rogers showroom in Liverpool. It was more than just furniture to them — it was a commitment to good design, daily comfort, and lasting quality.
When we arrived, the pieces were structurally solid but tired, softened by years of family life. We saw potential — and history — in every curve of the teak frames and every sleigh-like bend in the legs. In our Sussex studio, the suite was lovingly brought back to life: new webbing beneath, plush fire-safe foam inside, and a fresh wrap of luxurious ivory boucle.
Today, this set carries its story not just in its materials, but in its journey — from postwar optimism to modern refinement. It’s furniture that’s been lived in, loved, and now ready for a beautifully designed second act.
